Peter Böckli, J.S.D. at University of Basel (1960); Bar Exam (1962). He worked as an attorney-at-law at the law firm White & Case in New York and Paris from 1963 to 1966, as a lawyer in Basel from 1966, a partner in the law offices of Böckli Bodmer & Partners (from 1981) with the main focus on company law, capital markets law, Corporate Governance, contracts and corporate taxation.
He was a part-time professor of tax law and business law at the University of Basel from 1975 to 2001. He is the author of numerous books and scientific articles, among them «Swiss Corporation Law», fourth enlarged and revised edition, «Insider Trading Law and Responsibilities of the Board»; «An Introduction to the International Accounting Standards IFRS/IAS». He often acts as Chairman or Member of arbitration tribunals, mainly in international cases. He was a member of the Board of Directors of listed companies such as «Zurich» Insurance Company, Sandoz AG (which later became Novartis), Swiss Bank Corporation (from 1998 to 2006 UBS AG), from 1993 to 2008 Nestlé S.A., Vevey. He was active also on the boards of non-listed companies, such as Habasit AG, Reinach and Firmenich S.A., Geneva, and still is a Member of the Board of Manufacture des Montres Rolex S.A., Bienne and Assivalor AG, Basel. In a team of three persons he established a pre-draft of the Revision of the Limited Liability Company Law and edited, as committee head, the «Swiss Code of Best Practice for Corporate Governance» for Economiesuisse, as well as the «Addendum 1» to the «Swiss Code» for remuneration questions in 2007. He functioned as an adviser to the «Spori» commission for the revision of the Swiss Value Added Tax in 2006/07 and as an adviser to the «Baumer» commission to establish the text for the international treaty of the new client-oriented taxation for the Swiss banking industry.
