Michael Pfeifer is a senior partner of the international commercial law firm VISCHER in Basel and Zurich and a lecturer on company law at the University of St. Gallen and Basel. He studied law at the University of Basel and obtained his doctoral degree in 1978. He carried out additional studies at the University of Berlin and the University of St. Gallen, where he obtained an M.B.L in 1996.
He has also practiced internationally for many years especially in the fields of mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial law, civil law notary and white-collar crime. He is one of the few Swiss attorneys who have constantly dealt with scientific texts in traditional fields of law and who constantly dealt with issues of the legal profession such as international authorities.
Pfeifer is a member of the arbitration body of the authority for compliance with money laundering regulations established by the Swiss Bar Association. He then was the president of the Basel notary public association from 1993 to 1998.
